Awarded to staff for a training and certification course in specialized wheelchair seating that provides education in traditional, orthotic and prosthetic approaches to support patients using wheelchairs and those with complex seating and positioning needs.

Patient Care
Prism Glasses for the Stroke Program, $7,962
Items used to support patients who have experienced a stroke or other neurological condition. These glasses help to reduce the vision problems post-stroke that can impede someone’s ability to participate in rehabilitation, enabling them to progress in their individual recovery goals.
Unique Resident/Family Experience: A Barn Yard Family Fun Day, $369
This event allowed residents at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care to enjoy stimulating activities including an on-site petting zoo, live musical entertainment, food and drinks and various game stations and outdoor activities.
The Nourish Project, $13,383
As part of the hospital’s strategic plan, this pilot project of a garden for vegetables and herbs enhanced meals across Parkwood Institute and Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, allowing patients and residents to benefit from the therapeutic properties of gardening and enjoy ‘farm to table’ foods.

2023-24 Veterans Wish List for Veterans Care Program, $69,622
Funding wish list items to support care of the Veterans, including ground maintenance in Veterans Park, the Dreams and Wishes Program, the Dining Delights Program providing outings and dining experiences, equipment needs including desktop computers for the lounge, a television for the Iron Duke Pub, theatre tickets, portable video magnifiers, a digital piano, music players and snoezelen therapy multi-sensory stimulation equipment.

The Possibilities Project, $21,290
The Possibilities Project Fund supports the unique equipment needs of persons being discharged from Parkwood Institute’s Rehabilitation Program and transitioning to the community. The fund is intended to meet equipment needs to support the independence, quality of life and transition of patients following their rehabilitation, who lack financial resources for equipment and other specialized needs.

Funding to surprise 150 residents at Mount Hope, many who have minimal or no family support or are experiencing financial strain, with personalized Christmas gifts to bring them comfort and joy, including toiletries, blankets, stuffed animals, fuzzy socks, puzzles, books and clothing.
Spread the Christmas Cheer at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, $2,310
A campaign to deck the halls at Mount Hope and make residents feel more festive through the purchase of 20 new Christmas trees and decorations, along with outreach to service organizations and schools within the community to help decorate.
