My research focuses on the influence of social and economic disadvantage on health outcomes across the life course.

Two areas of particular interest for me are the impact of family structure on children’s health and future status attainment, and genotype-environment interactions and developmental trajectories. Through improved understanding of the social determinants of health, health promotion strategies can focus its attention on the primary determinants of health, rather than behaviour modification of lifestyle choices per se.
