Biography

Dr. Prasad graduated with a bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Delhi and completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He pursued specialty and subspecialty training in neurology (Memorial University) and pediatric neurology at Tufts-New England Medical Centre Hospitals, Boston, MA., USA. He completed his fellowship in pediatric epilepsy and clinical electroencephalography at the Floating Hospital for Children @ New England Medical Centre Hospitals, Boston, MA, USA.

Prior to joining the LHSC faculty in 2003, Dr. Prasad was Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba in the Division of Pediatric Neurosciences(Department of Pediatrics) and an adjunct Professor in the department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, University of Manitoba. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK in 2003-2004.

He is currently Professor in Pediatrics with continuing appointment (Provost Stream) and is cross appointed to the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences. His clinical appointment includes duties as Staff Pediatric Neurologist to the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Prasad has pursued an active academic and research career along with his clinical practice. In addition to publishing peer reviewed papers (55) in several international medical journals, and research abstracts (60). He has served as reviewer for research manuscripts for several international medical journals and has been an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings in Canada, India, Spain, Japan, Taiwan and Australia.

He has served 2013- 2015 as President of the Canadian Association of Child Neurology and as member of the executive council of the Canadian Neurosciences Federation, the Audit Committee and Vice Chair of the International Development Committee of the Canadian Neurosciences Federation.
