Transgenic and Gene Targeting

Overview

The London Regional Transgenic and Gene Targeting Facility (LRTGT) is a collaborative endeavor between Lawson Health Research Institute, the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), Robarts Research Institute, the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Western University.

Services Offered

LRTGT provides services to generate genetically modified mouse lines through pronuclear injection and gene targeting in embryonic stem cells (ES cells).

For London-based researchers, LRTGT also rederives and cryopreserves lines for distribution. In doing so, LRTGT is establishing a mouse embryo bank to enhance research collaborations.

  • Generation of transgenic mouse lines through pronuclear injection
  • Cryopreservation and storage of genetically modified mouse sperm or embryos
  • Rederivation of local and imported mouse lines through embryo transfer or in vitro fertilization
  • Chromosomal counting of ES cell lines

Located in the Victoria Research Laboratory (VRL) at LHSC’s Victoria Hospital, the facility is open to all members of the London research community, and others upon request.
