Indwell honoured with St. Joseph's Award for a partnership of shared values

With a vision of “Hope and Homes for All,” Indwell, a Christian charity that creates affordable housing communities, was recently honoured with St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Community Partner of Distinction Award. This award recognizes partnership and collaboration – essential requirements of health care delivery and community service.

In 2019, Indwell partnered with the Mental Health Care Program at St. Joseph’s and the Canadian Mental Health Association-Middlesex to identify and welcome new tenants who are seeking supportive housing to continue their journey toward wellness.

The Christian charity is committed to working and partnering with organizations to end homelessness in London and the surrounding area by providing hope and homes to vulnerable citizens.

In London this past July, Indwell opened Woodfield Gate, located at 356 Dundas Street, a 70-unit supportive and affordable living apartment facility. Tenants include individuals who face challenges accessing quality housing, often due to mental health issues and other disabilities.

“We are lucky to have Indwell as a new partner in London, offering creative and collaborative solutions for some of our most marginalized citizens,” says Jodi Younger, Vice President, Patient Care & Quality, St. Joseph’s Health Care London. “Many of the patients we serve require access to safe, enhanced, supportive housing that enables recovery and assists them to be successful tenants and community members.” 

Indwell has 45 years of experience providing affordable housing and supports, with 17 buildings and 550 tenants in Hamilton, Woodstock, and Simcoe. Each Indwell community offers a trained team of staff who provide tenants living independently, with supports tailored to their situation, including connections to community resources, one-on-one meetings with tenants, and facilitation of healthy meals and planned community food events.
