Amanda Lindhout is a New York Times bestselling author of the memoir A House in the Sky, where she recounts her harrowing 460 days as a hostage in Somalia. Navigating the complexity of her post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis, Amanda has developed expertise on resilience and will be the special guest at the 2025 Breakfast of Champions event.
Champion of Mental Health & Addiction Awards
During the event, the Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services will present the Champion of Mental Health & Addiction Awards. The winners are awarded to an individual and organization that have made a significant contribution to advance mental health and wellness in the city of London or the counties of Elgin, Middlesex Oxford or South Huron. About the Event
Breakfast of Champions is hosted by St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation in partnership with CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services. It is the largest and longest-running event of its kind in Southwestern Ontario, raising awareness and funds for mental health care in our region. Since 2007, the event has raised more than $2.1 million and contributed to a greater awareness and understanding of topics related to mental health and wellness.
Proceeds from the 2025 Breakfast of Champions event will be directed to supporting people receiving care through St. Joseph’s mental health care programs. St. Joseph’s provides regional specialized inpatient and community-based mental health care services for adults living with serious mental illness, including those who have come in contact with the criminal justice system.
